Sarah Woodbury

Communications and Outreach Director

Sarah has a B.S. in Environmental Studies with a Communications Emphasis. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Environment and Society at Utah State University, researching socio-environmental questions as part of a larger project restoring Wuda Ogwa, the site of the Bear River Massacre.

Prior to joining our team in 2019, Sarah worked professionally as a writer, visual artist, and jazz vocalist. Born and raised in Utah, she has also worked across the state in various capacities, from outdoor volunteer management to ethnobotanical collection to rare plant surveys. Sarah is passionate about furthering the impact of conservation through engaging stories and creative strategy. As our Communications and Outreach Director, Sarah works across mediums and platforms, creates communications for varying audiences, and connects individuals and partners to our work through impactful storytelling. She is also working on a Documentary Studies Certificate through Duke University, where she focuses on conservation documentary and exploring the intersections of human and land experience.

Sarah’s writing can be found in multiple national publications. In her spare time, she spends time in the mountains or paddling with her dog, writes poetry, facilitates Earth connection workshops, and performs.
