East Canyon Tree Planting

Join Sageland Collaborative and Basin Recreation to improve stream & pollinator habitat alongside beaver dam analogs in East Canyon Creek! These volunteer events are a fun opportunity to cool off in the late summer heat while making an positive impact on Utah’s waterways.

All ages are welcome. Volunteers under 18 years old require a guardian’s signature and those under 15 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

When: Friday October 10, 2025 9am-3pm
Where: East Canyon near Park City, UT (specific meetup details will be shared in a confirmation email following signup).

The project site is located approximately a 30 minute drive from Salt Lake City. Cell service may be spotty, and there is no potable water or restroom facilities at the project site.

What to expect: We will be planting willows, flowering plants, and potted aspen trees at a Riverscape Restoration project site along East Canyon Creek. We will provide all tools and instruction. The project involves walking up to 1 mile over uneven, often muddy terrain, with stream crossings.

What we'll provide: 

• A high-quality, fun, and safe volunteer experience

• Extra water, snacks, sunscreen & bug spray

• Extra safety equipment (work gloves, safety glasses), and a first aid kit

• Muck boots/waders in various sizes (W's 5 - M's 13)

• Opportunities to learn about riverscape restoration, pollinators, and native plants while connecting with restoration practitioners and community members

• Resume-building skills relevant to natural resources careers

Attendees are required to fill out Sageland Collaborative’s Volunteer Liability Form & Waiver in order to participate. Minors must have a guardian sign the waiver on their behalf.
