Pollinator Planting at East Canyon
October 9, 2025 9:30am- 1pm
Join Sageland Collaborative and Basin Recreation to improve stream & pollinator habitat alongside beaver dam analogs in East Canyon Creek! These volunteer events are a fun opportunity to cool off in the late summer heat while making an positive impact on Utah’s waterways.
All ages are welcome. Volunteers under 18 years old require a guardian’s signature and those under 15 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
When: Thursday, October 9th from 9:30am-1pm
Where: East Canyon near Park City, UT (specific meetup details will be shared in a confirmation email following signup).
The project site is located approximately 30 minutes driving from Salt Lake City. Cell service may be spotty, and there is no potable water or restroom facilities at the project site.
What to expect: We will be planting 700 native wetland plants and willow clippings alongside beaver dam analogs in East Canyon Creek. We will provide all tools and instruction. The project involves walking up to 1 mile over uneven, often muddy terrain, with the possibility of stream crossings.
What we'll provide:
A high-quality, fun, and safe volunteer experience
Extra water, snacks, sunscreen & bug spray
Extra safety equipment (work gloves, safety glasses), and a first aid kit
Muck boots/waders in various sizes (W's 5 - M's 13)
Opportunities to learn about riverscape restoration, pollinators, and native plants while connecting with restoration practitioners and community members
Resume-building skills relevant to natural resources careers
Attendees are required to fill out Sageland Collaborative’s Volunteer Liability Form & Waiver in order to participate. Minors must have a guardian sign the waiver on their behalf.
