In Pursuit of Pollinators & Surveyors!
Spring is officially in the air, and you know what that means! Pollinators will soon fill skies with sounds and colors, and our volunteers will soon fill trails and backyards documenting them.
Why? Utah's monarch butterflies and bumblebees have struggled in recent years. Difficult years of drought, warming climates, and loss of habitat are just some of the issues facing these remarkable insects.
Utah Pollinator Pursuit volunteers are working to change the course of their decline through:
Collecting data on monarchs, either as a Site Steward or recording opportunistic surveys
Recording bumble bee sightings
This information helps scientists map pollinator migration and habitat and plan for their conservation. With an army of committed volunteers across Utah, the project receives far more data than our scientists could collect alone, refining our ability to understand and conserve these species.
Do you love butterflies or bees? Join us as we fight to keep their wings in our future skies!
