Shane joined Sageland Collaborative in March 2025. With nearly 15 years of experience in wildlife conservation, Shane's background includes a bachelor’s in Wildlife Science from Utah State University and a master’s degree focused on frogs and small mammals in Hawaii.
Shane's tenure as a habitat biologist involved impactful work minimizing development impacts on wildlife and advancing habitat restoration in Utah. Driven by a land ethic, Shane is passionate about restoring degraded habitats by mimicking natural processes and is fascinated by how wildlife shapes ecosystems, with a particular fondness for partnering with beavers to restore riverscapes. Shane enjoys forging partnerships to advance wildlife conservation.
Beyond his professional life, he cherishes time with his three children, enjoys foraging for wild foods, and finds inspiration in music.
