We have made it to our second survey window, which runs through Saturday January 9, 2021.
“I was not able to do a survey during the first window. Can I still participate?” Yes! We will still accept surveys and encourage you to join us.

Rosy-finch Rewards Winners and Selected Stories!
Our drawing was from the pool of volunteers that submitted a Standard or Opportunistic survey during our first survey window. We are happy to share some of our volunteer’s stories!
Steve Slater - Brighton, Utah. “I became interested in the Rosy-finch study after hearing about it on Facebook and in the Wild Utah Project newsletter. I've been a life-long birder, and study raptors at HawkWatch, but only started eBirding in March 2020 (the beginning of the pandemic) after a Blue Jay appeared at my feeder while I was working from home. I've been doing regular checklists of my feeder and dog walk loop since then. My first survey had a few Mountain Chickadees at the feeder, but fingers crossed!”
Christopher Boyd - Albuquerque, New Mexico. Christopher is conducting his Feeder Counts at the Sandia Crest House atop of the Sandia Crest, famous for attracting all three species of rosy-finches in the winter. “I have always loved birds and birding. I retired this year and thought this would be a fun and safe way to volunteer.”
Emily Strong - Cedar City, Utah. I love citizen science, especially bird identification and bird watching. I recently moved to Southern Utah and have really enjoyed exploring the area. I've been particularly interested in watching the behavior of ravens in the area, and enjoy watching their hijinks. Being part of the Rosy-Finch study was a perfect way to set aside time for stillness and observation of my feathered neighbors!
