You're invited! Join Sageland Collaborative and our community partners for the 3rd annual Pollinator Pride Party on Saturday, June 7th at the Tracy Aviary's Nature Center at Pia Okwai.
Participants can join various activities centered on pollinator conservation, engage with community partners, and learn to bachata with SLC Queer Latin Dance.
Meet our Riverscape Restoration Team
As we gear up for another busy-beaver Riverscape Restoration season, we're excited to introduce you to our newest team members! Shane Hill joins us as our new Project Manager, and Jake Atkinson is our seasonal Riverscape Technician! Alongside our Stream Ecologist, Rose Smith, this team plans, monitors, and executes our Riverscape Restoration program.
Thank you, Shorebird Surveyors!
Last month, over 120 volunteer community scientists and professional biologists got out and counted 79,318 shorebirds and white-faced ibis across Utah!
Thank you to everyone who makes these surveys possible! Your contributions paint a picture of the importance of Great Salt Lake to our region's migratory birds.
Wildlife Watch Comes to a Close
After seven years of camera monitoring across the Wasatch, this portion of the Wildlife Watch project is coming to a close. Your contributions have shaped our understanding of urban wildlife and we are so grateful for the countless hours our wildlife watchers have poured into this work!
Check out our latest short film, Where the Wild Ones Wander, to learn how the data from Wildlife Watch plays an important role in our understanding of how wildlife utilize the landscape and influence habitat management for human-wildlife coexistence.
Get Outdoors this Summer!
As the last of our project trainings come to a close, we cannot deny - field season is HERE! Whether you're seeking western toads or monarch butterflies, we're grateful for your contributions!
Be sure to check out our events calendar to stay up to date on ways to join us in the field throughout the year.
Visit our project pages to learn how to get involved. ¡También tenemos materiales del proyecto disponibles en español!
Wild Hope: Reclaiming Bear River
Check out this recent episode of Wild Hope highlighting the history of the Bear River Massacre site, and the work that the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation are doing to bring the land back to what it once was.
You can get involved in the tribe's restoration efforts at Wuda Ogwa by joining them for a weed pull this summer! Volunteers are needed on May 31, June 6, July 11, and August 1.
Our 2024 Impact Report is Here!
If you supported our work as a volunteer, partner, donor, or community member last year - thank you! Wildlife and land conservation at this scale are only possible through the support of our outstanding community.
Last year, with your support, we:
Published 8 scientific papers
Prepared to launch 2 new community science projects
Centered Latinx, LGBTQ+, and Indigenous partners
Built over 600 beaver dam analogs
Expanded our social media impact!
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us in 2024 to put science to action for the wildlife and landscapes that unite us. We can't wait to see what our community comes together to accomplish this year!
