Mid-Year Impact Updates
Plus, join us in a stream, meet Utah's lesser known species, submit your best wildlife photos, and more!
We're more than halfway through the year, and we're excited to share the incredible accomplishments we've already made with your support!
From launching two new community science programs to welcoming four new staff members to our team, 2025 has been a year of growth and development for our organization.

While we celebrate our successes, we know that there's still so much left to do. Thank you to our dedicated volunteers, partners, and donors for supporting this work—we couldn't do this without you.
Restore Stream & Pollinator Habitat with Us!
Though summer is beginning to settle down, we're gearing up for our busiest season of the year and we've got plenty of opportunities for our community to get involved! From building beaver dam analogs (BDAs) to creating habitat for pollinators, we've got something for everyone.
Don't miss out on our first BDAs of the season on August 29th! 🦫
Lesser Known Species Highlights
Did you know that there are iguanas in Utah? Or that Great Salt Lake hosts some cryptic shorebirds? Utah is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, and we're highlighting some of the "underappreciated" species who share our landscapes.
Learn more about these wildlife and how you can support their conservation in our Lesser Known Species blogs:
Latino Conservation Week Celebrations
Join Sageland Collaborative and our conservation partners in celebrating Latino Conservation Week from September 13-21! This week was created to support the Latinx community in getting outdoors and participating in activities to protect our natural resources. Everyone is welcome!
Kick off the week with us on September 12th at Noche de Murciélagos (Bat Night!) and stay tuned for even more fun community events!

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us to count shorebirds and White-faced Ibis across Utah's wetlands last weekend!
These surveys show us just how valuable the Great Salt Lake Ecosystem is for migratory birds.
The data gathered through these surveys are shared directly with land managers and policy makers to ensure shorebird's needs are considered when planning restoration activities.
Weaving Communities Together to Heal Western Watersheds
Sageland Collaborative is grateful to support our partners and community members towards healing Western landscapes through Watershed Restoration Workshops. Learn more about these workshops and meet the people behind the restoration in our latest blog!
Calling all Wildlife Photographers!
Join us in celebrating the photography that unites us with our 3rd annual Calendar Photo Contest! Enter your best wildlife photos for the chance to be featured in the 2026 Sageland Collaborative Wall Calendar.

Photos that have the best chance of being selected will feature wildlife species native to the Intermountain West.
Herpetofauna, shorebirds, fish, charismatic microfauna, large mammals (and small ones too!) are just a few examples of what we'd like to feature!
Charismatic megafauna like moose, pronghorn, and mule deer rely on wide open spaces to travel safely across their migratory pathways. Photo by Parker Lloyd.
Thank you for loving wildlife and lands in the West!
