This month we're gearing up to celebrate the Latinx community’s connection to la naturaleza, conservacion del medio ambiente, y el aire libre. September 12th - 20th, organizations around Salt Lake City (and nationwide!) are hosting events that bring folks together.
Sageland Collaborative is hosting Utah's Latino Conservation Week Kick-off Celebración on September 12th from 2pm-6pm, and we'd love to see you there! There will be many actividades de ciencia y arte ¡para toda la familia!
Great Salt Lake & Shorebird Updates

This August, 128 community scientists and partner biologists came together to count shorebirds across Utah’s Great Salt Lake and surrounding wetlands as part of the Fall 2026 Intermountain West Shorebird Survey. Our preliminary results are IN: Our surveyors counted 293,036 shorebirds and White-faced Ibis across Utah!
A huge thank you to everyone who makes these surveys possible! Check out this amazing video one of our surveyors created highlighting his experience on the survey.
Looking for a way to support shorebirds from the comfort of your home? The artworks below from our Sci-Art Cohort have been donated to support our fundraising efforts! 100% of the proceeds from artwork sales go right back into making our conservation programs possible, including these shorebird surveys.
